Recording Labs: Track and Mix a Band!
In this hands-on lab, you'll record a song performed by a band from start to finish: setting up mics, getting sounds, and capturing the performance, then running overdubs and editing the takes into a mix-ready session. From there, we'll get into mixing (gain staging, EQ, compression, and effects) and how they work together to serve the song. Each participant will create their own mix of the track and get feedback. Whether you want to understand what actually happens in a session or get better at recording your own music, it's a great way to build real experience alongside other musicians.
The lab meets for five Sundays, 11am–1:30pm, from November 15 through December 20 (no lab November 29), with mastering engineer Matthew Agoglia, whose credits include Emmylou Harris, James Taylor, and Divine Fits.
