Throughout the year, BMF offers a variety of performance opportunities for students, no matter their skill level. There are school-wide in-house recitals, which feature a variety of types of students and instruments; there are also more specific and intimate studio recitals, as well as our bi-monthly in-house showcases. "BMF Nite" takes place on a Sunday evening, and it's a great informal opportunity for students of all ages and skill levels to get up in front of a friends-and-family audience. Taking advantage of such performance opportunities is encouraged for the development of any student musician at any stage, but never mandatory. 

Buying vs. Renting:

We strongly discourage new students from buying an instrument before having a consultation with their instructor. There are extreme variables in the quality of the student instruments that are sold in stores and online; as well as less scrupulous people selling items that they try to pass off as real instruments, but are in fact, just junk. PLEASE do not waste your money. In nearly every case, it is better to rent, as the quality of the instrument is always higher than the ones they are willing to sell, either at a deep discount or "as is". The old adage applies "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is".
